The Wii Fit: Saving Waistlines During A Pandemic?
Gyms and outdoor sport this year have been about as consistent as a hot summer’s day in the UK. One minute they're open... the next they're shut. Being out of our normal exercising environments, we've had to do exercise that we wouldn't have considered before.
For some this has been great. They've found different ways to enjoy staying fit and healthy. But for others? Not so much. Some have found it less enjoyable exercising from home.
It's been difficult to stay motivated and workouts are more likely to get skipped, In some cases stopping altogether! As a result, people aren't as fit as they were before lockdown, packing on a few extra pounds.
And when gyms and other facilities have reopened they've gone mental. People have tried using the weights they were lifting before lockdown and a lot have got injured.
Back in 2007, Nintendo Was Onto A Winner When They Released The Wii Fit
If this was released in 2019... I think it would've been selling like hotcakes. Nintendo used gaming as a strategy to get people more active from the comfort of their own home. And that's what we've needed during this pandemic. A fun way to exercise. An easier way to stay motivated. A way families could stay fit together.
So that when facilities do open up back people are as fit as they were before. And there'd be no reason to go mental pumping iron like the former governor of California, get injured, and spend loads of money fixing their bodies.
